The Tanjung Enim Tourism City Program aims to make coal mining area Tanjung Enim a tourist destination and become independent in the future. Besides the Waterpark, PTBA has built various facilities and infrastructure for tourism development in Tanjung Enim, including the Coal Museum, Culinary Center, Sriwijaya Park, Tanjung Enim Mini Zoo & Jogging Track, and Plaza Saringan with the Kujur Spear icon, a heirloom weapon left by the ancestors of Tanjung Enim Hamlet.

Other ex-mining areas were also transformed into green areas for ecotourism, for example the Botanical Garden, artificial lakes, Orchard Park (Fruit Garden), RTH Berangau Park, Agroforestry, and others.

Not only building new tourist objects, PTBA involves the local community to develop and promote local culture that must be strengthened and becoming tourist attraction.

PTBA and the local government will also hold community development to increase human resources competence both in terms of cultural and entrepreneurial to prepare local people engaging in the tourism sector.
