President Director of Bukit Asam (PTBA) Arsal Ismail Receives Industry Marketing Champion Award in South Sumatra President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Arsal Ismail was named the Industry Marketing Champion of South Sumatra 2024 in the Resource sector at MarkPlus Institute's 12th Indonesia Marketing Festival 2024, held in Palembang on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Arsal Ismail received the award because he was considered to have demonstrated an extraordinary 'marketing spirit' worthy of emulation, as well as having a positive and significant impact on the company and the wider community.

"We would like to express our gratitude for the recognition from the 12th Indonesia Marketing Festival 2024. This award encourages PTBA to continue to improve its performance and provide non-stop energy for the community," said Arsal.

Under Arsal Ismail's leadership, PTBA continues to transform to face change and to achieve its vision of becoming a world-class energy company that cares about the environment.

One of the most recent innovations released by PTBA is a pilot project with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to transform coal into Artificial Graphite and Anode Sheet for Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. This pilot project to convert coal into Artificial Graphite and Anode Sheet is the world's first, and it has the potential to be a significant step forward in coal downstreaming.

PTBA is also diversifying its business in line with its transition to clean and environmentally friendly energy. The company has built solar power plant with a maximum capacity of 241 kilowatt-peak (kWp) at the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) Building at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in collaboration with PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), which has been fully operational since October 2020.

In addition to PT Angkasa Pura II, PTBA in collaboration with Jasa Marga Group has developed solar power plant on toll roads. The 400 kWp solar power plant on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road is complete and has been operational since September 21, 2022. PTBA is also collaborating with PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) in the construction of the 23.07 kWp solar power plant, which is expected to reach the COD stage in June 2023.

PTBA's coal sales volume has increased over the past three years as well. From 28.4 million tons in 2021 to31.6 million tons in 2022, and finally 37.0 million tons in 2023.

MarkPlus Institute's 12th Indonesia Marketing Festival 2024 with the theme "Pilot Marketing Flying in Turbulence", aiming to give appreciation to marketers who can develop adaptive and responsive strategies and implement them in order to keep the business stable towards success despite facing numerous challenges.
