Bank Mandiri and PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) Signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement to Support National Electricity Needs

Bank Mandiri and PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) Signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement to Support National Electricity Needs Jakarta, September 30, 2024 – To support equal distribution and fulfillment of national electricity needs, Mandiri Bank has established a strategic partnership with PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP). This collaboration is realized through long-term cooperation that focuses on developing the electricity sector in Indonesia, especially in supporting the operations of the Sumsel-8 power plant in Tanjung Lalang Village, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province.
 
This agreement between Mandiri Bank and HBAP is stated in the Credit Facility Agreement, which was officially signed at the Plaza Mandiri Auditorium, Jakarta, on Monday (30/9). This signing ceremony was attended by Erick Thohir, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Darmawan Junaidi, President Director of Bank Mandiri, along with Bank Mandiri management, Arsal Ismail, President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk, along with representatives of PTBA management, and Zhou Qingke, Vice President of China Huadian Overseas Investment.
 
The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir appreciates the good collaboration between Mandiri Bank, HBAP and PT Bukit Asam Tbk. This is a form of constructive collaboration between State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), private and even foreign companies. Erick hopes this collaboration able to support the Government programs.
 
"I really appreciate this constructive collaboration within Mandiri Bank, Bukit Asam and HBAP, moreover because it also aligned with Good Corporate Governance system. This type of funding will open a positive competition and improve the supply chain in all industrial sector in Indonesia,” said Erick.
 
This collaboration is expected to bring a great contribution to support the needs and improve the welfare of the community, especially in South Sumatra Province and its surroundings. In this strategic partnership, Mandiri Bank provided investment credit financing of US$ 1.27 billion or Rp. 19.24 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 15,131.27 per USD) to refinancing and strengthening HBAP's operations as a global standardized electricity provider.
 
Currently, the Sumsel-8 power plant is operating commercially with a production capacity of 2x660MW and is part of the National Program for Power Plants Development of 35,000 MW. This Electric Steam Power Plant (PLTU) is also one of the power plants that utilizes super critical technology which is efficient and environmentally friendly by implementing Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) technology to reduce exhaust gas emissions.
 
President Director of Mandiri Bank, Darmawan Junaidi said, as a bank that focuses on wholesale business, it is committed to being a trusted financial partner for all industry players. This collaboration is expected to support national electricity needs which is in line with the work and development plans carried out by PLN.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk, Arsal Ismail, hopes that this constructive collaboration will provide support for the sustainability of electricity supply from the Tanjung Lalang PLTU in Sumatra region's electricity system, as well as increasing the multiplier effect for economic growth and national development. "Thus, this cooperation can make a significant contribution to national economic growth," said Arsal.
 
On the same occasion, Vice President of China Huadian Overseas Investment, Zhou Qingke, revealed that the credit facilities provided by Mandiri Bank will be used to refinance long-term HBAP loans and support the smooth operation of the Tanjung Lalang power plant. "With this financial support, HBAP is expected to continue its contribution significantly by supporting the electricity system in Indonesia, as well as achieving its long-term vision as an international standard electricity provider," he explained.
