Coal Types
Through observation of several compounds and elements that were shaped during coalification, there are generally a number of coal ranks, which are:
1. Peat/gambu), (C60H6O34) with characters:
- Brown, materials are not yet compact
- Has high water content
- Has a very low solid carbon content
- Has a very high fly carbon (ash) content
- Easily oxidized
-
Producing a very low heat value
2. Lignit/ brown coa, (C70OH5O25 ) with characters:
- Brownish
- Materials are compacted, though very fragile
- Has a very high water content
- Has a low solid carbon content
- Has a high ash content
- Easily oxidized
- Low heat value

3. Subbituminous (C75OH5O20) - Bituminous (C80OH5O15) with characters:
- Black
- Materials is compacted
- Has a medium amount of water content
- Has a medium solid carbon content
- Has a medium ash content
- Medium oxidizing character
- Heating value produced in medium

4. Antrasit (C94OH3O3) with characters:
- Glossy Black color
- Material is compacted strong
- Has a low water content
- Has a high solid carbon content
- Has a low ash content
- Relatively hard to oxidize
- Heating Value produced is high
