Our Business - Production

The Company aimed to step up its coal production in 2010 to keep up with railway bigger loading capacity. To reach the production target, the Company consistently implemented an integrated production strategy focused on production efficiency, product quality and coal availability while preserving the environment and ensuring work safety and health.

The Company improved mining operational efficiency through many ways aimed at reducing production cost, improving operational efficiency and increasing inhouse coal production capacity. To reduce production cost, the Company launched several programs including saving fuel, coal handling, sparepart/ material and electricity consumption, maximizing inhouse coal production by optimum use of BWE (Bucket Wheel Excavator) system and developing shovel & truck mining system, optimizing inside dump to shorten transporting distance.
 
In consideration of efficient and optimum operations of assets, starting in 2009 the company made preparation to relocate BWE to Muara Tiga Besar Utara (MTBU) mine consisting of two BWE's and one spreader.
 
Optimizing BWE system was accompanied by the construction of owned to back up BWE system and other efficiency programs using waste coal that had previously been squandered.
 
The integrated operational strategy helped the Company increase its coal production to 12.5 million tons, up 7,4 % from 2009 which totalled 11.6 million tons.
 
Out of the total production, inhouse production rose to 5.64 million tons, or increased 11.5% from 5.05 million tons the preceding year. The Company plans to gradually upgrade the capacity of Inhouse production, and improve employees’ competence in mine management.
